Spring Stitching with Irises!

 

 

The Spring Cross was originally intended to be a bit of spring stitching with irises. They’ve always been one of my favorite flowers and for a long time there weren’t enough of them, stylized or otherwise, available as counted cross stitch designs. I’d done a flat, four-color iris design for another project, but wanted something more easily repeatable for a roundish mandala.

Also, it was not originally meant to be a seasonal design! But, Sue agreed to test-stitch it for me and she tagged it as “spring-ish” and “seasonal” right away. When my BFF steps up with an observation like that, believe me, I listen — even when it means she’s piling more work on my slate.

So, I guess I’ve got three more seasonal crosses to bear. 😉

Spring Stitching with Irises

As of right now, the Summer Cross is slated for red Mackintosh roses, Autumn with deep yellow sunflowers, and blue juniper berries for Winter! Expect them to be the same design size as the Spring Cross in case you want to stitch and frame them as a tiled set. And, on high-count fabrics they’d make decent biscornus, too!
