Here at the Crossing, we’re happy to announce that we’re making our first donation for Ukrainian refugees via CORE today! Much gratitude to the first four brave, imaginative, and talented stitchers who purchased Courage For Ukraine since the start of our fundraiser! So far we’ve collected $25 through purchases from our secure server (Hello SendOwl!). And, as we promised, we’ll be sending that along today.
Sad Update:
It’s April 15th. I just got back to my desk after a week of mourning my mother’s passing to find that the transaction that was supposed to send our $25 donation to CORE did not go through. It was right where I’d left it, on a tab in my browser, with the word “donate” highlighted, but not clicked. *sigh*
I’m so sorry. I’m so, so sorry. I dropped the ball on this, but as I hope you’ll see I rectified it as soon as my hands stopped shaking in shock and shame:
Again, my most humbled apologies. I had no business trying to do anything related to this until after matters, and my mother, were put to rest yesterday morning.
Onward…
What $25 Can Do
What can $25 do, you may be asking. We’re so glad you did. This quote is from CORE’s donation site.
“$25 supplies a family of four with 3-day hygiene kits containing soap, hand sanitizer, toothbrushes, and other essential hygiene items, and emergency thermal blankets to keep them warm amid freezing temperatures.”
So, Grimalkitties — we just sent enough help for a family of Ukrainian refugees for three days, but we all know that’s not enough. And, a “family of four” is pretty anonymous, but maybe that is, or was, the size of your family. It was the size of mine, when my boys were littles, and still living at home. Now, thinking that, just imagining it, makes it personal, and almost unbearably painful.
That’s why Sue and I are going to keep on putting time, money, and energy into this project, and we hope this post will move you to do so too, if you haven’t already. And if you have, please recommend it to your stitchy-kin out there! Share it on social media, stitch it with your friends, help your donation make an even bigger impact!
Courage For Ukraine is just 61 x 43 stitches, and it stitches up in a matter of hours. The colors are beautiful, and stitching with them is to stitch in solidarity with the Ukrainian people. Stitch it for courage. Stitch it for strength. Stitch it for Ukraine!
And look what we found on Instagram!
Even mo’ betta news! We’ve had a finish! Wendy at Left Field Whimsy Cross-Stitch Designs put theirs under a needle right away, then posted it to Instagram this past Monday. They used DMC flosses on a fabulous sparkly blue Cashel linen from Enchanting Lair. Blue can be so difficult to capture on camera, but this one just pops those warm yellows perfectly. You can find and follow leftfieldwhimsy on Instagram — we do!
And hey, a quick reminder — if you are already a Clowder member and you have an Instagram account, follow us there as xx_graycat_xx and either comment on a photo or shoot us a message to let us know you’d like access to the content in our “close friends” list.
We’ll also be sharing some of those posts via the newsletter, so if IG isn’t your thing, make sure you’ve whitelisted support@mg.metaphorpublications.com and/or added The Grimalkin Gazette to your contacts list. We love you, and we don’t want you to miss a thing.
If you’re not a Clowder member yet — you should be! Click here to find out what you’ve been missing! And come home soon, Kitty. We’re still waiting for you!
Thanks for stitching with us!
